Notes for Franz (Frank) Diederich
Sources: The Illerich Family Book, p. 287; and Allen Huelskamp.
Frank immigrated to Sheffield, Lorain County, Ohio with his parents at three years of age in 1843. After serving in the Civil War from 1862 to 1863, he lived in Elyria, Lorain County and North Ridgeville, Lorain County. He died of acute myocarditis. See photos for information about his service in the Civil War.
Frank is not included in the 1860 census with his parents and siblings. In 1870 he and his sister Mary, his wife and their three children lived in Elyria. His name on the census was spelled Deidrich. In 1880 he and his family including eight children lived in North Ridgeville. In 1900 he and his wife lived with three of their children in North Ridgeville. In 1910 he and his wife lived in North Ridgeville with their daughter Mary Eleanore. His sisters Mary Catharine and Catharine Maria lived next door. In 1920 he and his wife lived with their son Isadore and his family in North Ridgeville. The 1920 census reported incorrectly that Frank and his wife had immigrated in 1914 and were aliens. In 1930 Frank lived with his son Isadore and Isadore’s wife and son Walter in North Ridgeville.

She came to Olmsted, Ohio about 1847, then lived in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio and then in North Ridgeville, Lorain County.
The 1910 federal census reported that she immigrated in 1846 and that she had had 10 children, of whom eight were living. It also reported that she and her husband had been married for 35 years, but they actually had been married for 45 years.
