In order to show that the George Peter Weigel who married Clara Helena Diederich was the same one who married Margaret Hayes, his residential history is important:
From at least 1886 through part of 1891 George lived in the family home at 133 Belden Street in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio with his mother and siblings. In 1892, the year that his child was born and his wife died, he lived at 18 Siam St. in Cleveland. The rootsweb entry for Clara Helena Weigel states that the funeral was “from her late residence, 18 Siam St.” In 1894 George again lived at 133 Belden St.
In 1910 George and his wife Margaret lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio with their three children. The census reported that this was a first marriage for both George and Margaret. His age was reported to be 40 and hers 34.
In 1920 George lived in Cleveland with his wife Margaret and their three children. His age was reported to be 50.
In 1930 he and Margaret lived in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County with Anna Hayes who was described as a boarder. However she was Margaret Weigel’s stepmother. In 1935 and 1940 he and his wife lived in Cleveland with his wife’s step-mother Anna Hayes, age 92. George’s age was reported to be 72 and his wife’s age to be 64.
George had many job titles—upholsterer, foreman, painter, paper hanger, salesman, real estate agent at Weigel and Sewell, and proprietor of an upholstery shop.
