In 1900 John lived with his wife and daughter, as well as his parents and brother George, in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. In 1910 John and his wife lived in Columbus with their four children and his wife’s sister Gertrude. In 1920 John and his wife lived in Columbus with their five children and his wife’s sister Gertrude.

The Wuerttemberg index reported that she immigrated in 1881. However the 1900 federal census for her birth family reported that they had immigrated in 1880. Carolyn became a naturalized citizen.
As of 1910 she had had four children, all of whom were living.
In 1940 Carolyn lived in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio with her daughter Caroline, son-in-law Fred R. Basler, and their two children. She had lived there in 1935 as well.
