He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 10, 1918 and received an honorable discharge on December 16, 1918.
In 1918, 1920 and 1930 he lived in Avon Lake, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1920 he lived with his parents and two of his brothers. In 1930 he lived in Avon Lake with his wife and son Kenneth as well as his mother-in-law Louise M. Westrick and two of her other children. In 1940 he and his wife and five children lived in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio. He and his wife and the four older children had lived there in 1935 as well.
He died in a hospital in Elyria.
