Notes for Johann Heinrich Port
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld. Source of the identification of his male baptismal sponsor: Manfred Ruettgers.
His baptismal sponsors were [his father’s brother] Johann Heinrich Port and a single woman, Katharine Oster. He was usually referred to as Heinrich Port. He lived in Gierschnach but died in Muenstermaifeld; the death notice said he was 87 years old.
Manfred Ruettgers gives his date of death as April 1751 but that death notice referred to the death of his wife Margarete Puelicher.
He was a baptismal sponsor in 1736 for Heinrich, the son of Rudger Busch and Anna Maria, in Muenstermaifeld.
He may have been a baptismal sponsor in 1703 for Gertrud, the daughter of Apollonia Braun (who was the widow of his father’s brother (Johann) Heinrich Port) and Nikolaus Knodt of Kuettig; in 1754 for his grandson Heinrich, the son of Peter Port and Anna Margarete Mannebach of Muenstermaifeld, and in 1756 for his granddaughter Anna Maria, the daughter of Peter Lentz and Gertrud Port of Muenstermaifeld.
