Notes for Johann Port
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld.
His baptismal sponsors were a single man, Johann Ackermann, [possibly his first cousin twice removed who was the son of Anton Ackermann and Clara Sevenich], and Elisabeth Roeser, the wife of Martin Kloeckner [of Gierschnach].
Johann, the son of Adam Port and Maria Sevenich, was identified as the husband of Anna Maria Francesca Esch for two reasons: first, a number of his children’s baptismal sponsors were children of Adam Port and Maria Sevenich, and in one case actually was Maria Sevenich; second, positions such as villicus electoralis tended to pass from one family member to another in the next generation.
Three of his children died on the following dates: July 27, 1715, October 20, 1716, and November 10, 1722.
Notes for Anna Maria Francesca (Spouse 1)
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld. Manfred Ruettgers provided her birth date and place and confirmed that she married Johann Port in 1711. Her birth date allowed her to be identified as the daughter of Johann Peter Esch and Maria Koehn of Kalt.
Her baptismal sponsors were Rev. Franz Jodocus Caesar, a canon, and Anna Maria [Ebertz], the wife of Johann Froelich of Moerz.
She was a baptismal sponsor in 1692 for Sebastian, the son of her first cousin Margarete Esch and Anton Schmidt of Kalt; in 1695 for Anna Maria, the daughter of Wilhelm Wirschem and Cecilia of Kalt; and in 1699 for Jacob, the son of Adam Huerter and Margarete Grimming of Kalt.
Anna Maria Francesca’s name was given as Anna Maria when her daughter Anna Maria married in 1748.
