In 1910 she lived with her brother Alva and her mother in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio.
The December 29, 1910 Evening Telegram reported that “Mr. and Mrs. Peter Birkline, of Elyria, spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Mary [sic] Diederich.” In January of 1911 they moved to a home on Williams St. in Elyria that they had purchased. On Saturday, May 4, 1912 Mr. and Mrs. Birkline had a party in honor of their second wedding anniversary.
The Ohio, Deaths listing spelled her last name “Birckline.”

When the census was taken on April 27, 1910, Peter was enumerated with his parents and siblings in Elyria. Her was married shortly afterward.The April 28, 1910 Elyria Republican reported that “Bans were published at St. Peter’s Church, Sunday, for Miss Helen Diederich and Peter Bertling.” Later in 1910, as well as in 1918, 1930, 1940 and 1942 he lived in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio.
