He and his wife Maria Diederich had six children, only two of whom survived infancy. His second wife had four children, two of whom survived infancy. This latter family lived in Retterath. Peter’s year and place of birth were provided by Peter Bauer.
In December of 2001 the resident of the former Diederich homestead in Retterath was also named Peter Sturtz.
