Allen Huelskamp was the source of Nikolaus’ occupation in 1860.
Nikolaus was a wheelwright in Germany. He immigrated to Ohio in 1855. He and his family belonged to St. Mary's Church in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio.
In 1870 and 1880 he and his wife and children lived in New Russia Township, Lorain County. In 1870 they lived near the family of Joseph Kane, his wife Dorothea, and their daughters Mary and Anna Emma. In 1880 they lived adjacent to the family of Nicholas and Maria Katherine Muennich Schmitz. His family name was spelled Didrick on the 1870 census and Diedrick on the 1880 census. In 1900 he and his wife lived in New Russia Township.
