The 1860 census gives Mary E. Minnis as her name.
The 1910 census reported that she had given birth to eight children, all of whom were living. In 1920 she lived with her son John and daughters Cecelia, Gertrude and Kathryn in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1930 she lived with her son John in North Ridgeville, near the farms of her nephews Joseph and Matthias Minnich.

In 1880 he and Catherine lived close to the families of Christian Thome and Susanna Laux, Matthias Diederich and Margaretha Minnich, and Anton Minnich and Gertrude Wilhelmi in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1900 he and his family lived in North Ridgeville; his 85-year-old mother-in-law Anna M. Minnich lived with them. His wife’s brother Anton and his family lived very close to them. In 1910 he lived in North Ridgeville with his wife and four of his children.
