Jakob and Apollonia had twelve children. Children of this couple died on Feb. 6, 1756, Jan. 30 and Dec. 2, 1758, and April 18, 1763. When their daughter Ernestina Margaretha was baptized in 1754 her baptismal sponsors included members of the nobility. When their daughter Maria Barbara was married in 1778 Jakob was described as a resident of Illerich and village mayor. In 1788 when his son Nikolaus married Jakob was called “Schulteti Excell... D.D. Comit... de Blankenheim.”
Jakob was a baptismal sponsor in 1740 for his niece Anna Gilles, daughter of Johann Anton Gilles and Anna Maria Jungclas of Illerich.
