When he registered for the draft during the U.S. Civil War in June 1863, he lived in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio.
According to Barbara Riegelsberger, Jodocus (Jodok) immigrated to Wisconsin and then settled in Tama, Iowa.
In 1870 Jodok lived in Tama, Tama County, Iowa with his wife and their sons Anton and Albert who were born in Wisconsin. His brother Anton Puth lived next door.
