In 1910 Elizabeth, a 58-year-old widow, lived in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio with her 2-year-old grandson Gilbert M. Schmitz. She had had eight children, seven of whom were living in 1910.
On the Joey Diest Web Site, Turnis was given as her maiden name, as it was in the Cuyahoga County, Ohio marriage record for her daughter Mary B. Flood. This error may have been the result of a confusion with the maiden name of her husband’s mother, Anna Christine Ternes.
The Roth Family Tree site gives incorrect information for her parents.
Notes for Franz (Frank) (Spouse 1)
Source: Beate Hammes; MyHeritagecom—MyHeritage Family Trees: Joey Diest Web Site; inscriptions on her tombstone at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio.
Franz and his brother Johann arrived in New York on Sept. 21, 1872 on the ship “Algeria.”
In 1880 Franz and his family lived in Amherst, Lorain County, Ohio. The census listed Pauli as his family name.
The inscription on his tombstone at St. Peter’s Cemetery gives his year of death as 1899. His year of birth is given as 1850, not 1849.
His daughters Mary and Rose married sons of Peter and Jane Flood.
