His father was from Scotland and his mother was from England. In 1900 he and his wife lived with their son Lester and his Charles’ sister-in-law Gertrude in Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In 1910 he and his wife and son lived in Buffalo, Erie County, New York with his mother Melissa, his brother-in-law Joseph Gaeb, and a boarder named John Kinghorn (?). In 1918 he lived in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County. In 1920 he and his wife and son and his wife’s mother lived in Cleveland. In 1930 he and his wife lived with their son in Buffalo. In 1940 he and his wife lived in Buffalo.
