The LaBrue family tree and William’s World War I draft registration cards give November 1, 1872 as his brithdate. However his sister Anna Maria was born in May of 1873, only six months after William if 1872 is the correct year of his birth. The 1880 census gives his age as 9, so 1871 was probably his birth year.
In 1918 William was a farmer living in Mystic, Appanoose County, Iowa. Mystic was in a major coal mining area.
