Notes for Paul Pauly
Source: Manfred Ruettgers; and Albert Emmerich of Cremlingen, Germany.
Paul was born during the French occupation of much of the Eifel region. Churches were not allowed to record births or marriages during that time. Records were kept by representatives of the French government. Paul Pauly’s birth date was provided by Manfred Ruettgers of Germany with the assistance of Albert Emmerich. (See Paul Pauly Record document.)
Paul and his family immigrated from Brohl to Olmsted Township, Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1847. In 1850 they continued to live in Olmsted Township. The census listing called him Paul Poul. In 1870 and 1880 Paul and his wife and children John and Margaret lived in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio.
It is not clear whether Mary Pauly who was born about March 25, 1855 in Elyria, Lorain County, Ohio was their daughter. She died on October 17, 1887 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
