Peter sailed with his family from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship “Mount Vernon,” arriving in New York, New York on August 12, 1846.

Peter lived with his parents and two brothers in Forest Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin in 1850. In 1860 they lived in Taycheedah Township, Fond du Lac County. In 1870 and 1880 Peter and his wife and children lived in Taycheedah Township. In 1900 they lived in Hoven Township, Potter County, South Dakota. The census in 1900 reported that he was born in March of 1836.
