Notes for Matthias Wirschem
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld.
His baptismal sponsors were Matthias Wierschem and Dorothea Daum.
Matthias and Lucie were third cousins once removed. Georg Stein and Anna Sauren were his ggg grandparents and her gg grandparents.
Notes for Lucie (Spouse 1)
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld.
Her baptismal sponsors were Peter Daum and a single woman, Lucie Reitzman, [the daughter of Theodore Reitzman and Anna Maria Hackmueller], both from Schrumpftal. Her last name was also given as Hackmueller.
Notes for (Anna) Maria (Spouse 2)
Source: Records of St. Martin and St. Severus Catholic Church in Muenstermaifeld.
Source of her date of death: Manfred Ruettgers.
Her baptismal sponsors were two single persons, Johann Heinrich Suesterhenn and Anna Maria Esch.
Peter Gaudentz and Peter Caspar witnessed her wedding in 1788. [Jodocus Mohr’s name was crossed out from the list of witnesses.] There is a second listing of a wedding between Matthias Wirschem and Anna Maria Gaudentz dated February 4, 1795 in Metternich. All of the information is the same except for the date and the substitution of Jodocus Mohr in place of Peter Caspar as a witness. This second listing is probably an error. [There are a number of records for the years 1788 and 1795 that are duplicates.] Anna Maria, the sister of (Anna) Maria who was born in 1748, was married in 1781 to Johann Koeppel of Trier. She would have been listed as a widow on the wedding notice in 1795 if in fact her first husband had died and she was now marrying Matthias Wirschem.
The fact that a child was born to Matthias Wirschem and Anna Maria Gaudentz in December of 1794 strongly suggests that the Anna Maria Wirschem who died in Metternich on May 10, 1794 was not Matthias’ wife.
