Christian sailed with his parents and two sisters from Rotterdam, The Netherlands on the ship “Agnes,” arriving in New York, New York on October 19, 1843.
In 1860 Christian lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio with his parents and four of his siblings. Prussia was reported to be his birthplace.
In 1870 Christian lived in Avon with his wife and children Frederick and John. In 1875 and 1880 Christian and his family lived in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, near the Anton Minnich family and the Matthias Diederich family. In 1900 he and his wife and seven of their children lived in North Ridgeville, near the homes of Anton Wilhelmi and Matthias Diederich.
