In 1880 he and his wife Margaret lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio, along with his brother-in-law Joseph Bacher. They lived next door to the family of Lorenz Krebs. In 1900 he and his wife Cotilda and their family lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio. He was not enumerated with his family in the 1920 federal census.

She was listed in the 1880 census twice, once with her parents and separately with her husband in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio. In both listings her brother Joseph was part of the record. The census version with her husband’s record reported that her father was from France.
