Nicholas and his mother and brothers Johann, Anton and Wilhelm sailed from Le Havre, France on the ship “Waverly,” arriving in New York, New York on August 28, 1847.
In 1850 he lived in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio with his mother and four siblings. In 1860 he lived in Avon with his second wife and five children (Joseph, Martin, Margaret, John, and Gertrude). He lived next to his wife’s parents and their children, and two houses away from the family of John and Margaret Jungclas. In 1870 he lived in Avon with five children (Martin, John, Kate, Peter and Margaret). In 1880 he lived in Avon with his daughter Katharine and son Peter. His name on the census was spelled Younglove (?) in 1860, Younglass in 1870 and Junglas in 1880. He appears to have used the name Younglas.
Nicholas and Anna Maria’s daughter Katharine married Matthias John Justen, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Laux Justen. Katharine’s brother John Younglas married Matthias’ sister Gertrude Anna.

Notes for Anna Marie (Spouse 2)

Her name was listed on the 1850 census as Anna M., and her age was given as 11 (?), so she would have been born in 1839. Her name on the 1860 census was Mary. Her age was listed as 31 so she would have been born in 1829, not April 6, 1838 as given elsewhere.
