He and his brothers Nikolaus and Paul sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship “Stadt Antwerp,” arriving in New York, New York on July 1, 1846.
In 1850 he and his first wife lived in Calumet Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. A ten-year-old girl named Gertrude Gilles lived with them. In 1860, 1870 and 1880 he lived in Marshfield Township, Fond du Lac County with his (second) wife Catherine and children. The John Roehrig family lived nearby in 1860.
