She immigrated in 1874 and became a naturalized citizen. In 1900 she was a widow living with four of her children in Union Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin. Her family lived next door to the family of John and Anna Catherine Roehrig Gilles. As of 1900 she had had 12 children, of whom five were living.
