He and his wife immigrated to America with their children in 1862. He became a U.S. citizen on September 11, 1867.
In 1870 and 1880 he and his wife and children lived in Wabash Township, Jay County, Indiana. The 1880 census states that he was paralyzed. His son Joseph’s wife Gertrude lived with Peter’s family in 1880, as did their son John who was born in December of 1879. The entry for John states that he was Peter’s nephew rather than grandson.
