In 1940 he lived in Westfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts with his cousin Josephine, her husband Frank Bogden, and their family. He had lived in Poland in 1935 but the census states that he was born in Massachusetts. In 1942 when he enlisted in the army for World War II, he lived in Lorain County, Ohio. He received a number of medals and military honors. He died in Massachusetts where he spent the last 5 1/2 years of his life.
