His baptismal sponsors were Nikolaus Gilles of Villa Beauweiler, Landkern who was married to Sophie Muennich and may have been Nikolaus’s uncle, and Elisabeth Emmerich of Gamlen. Elisabeth was born Elisabeth Schuster in 1698 in Gamlen. She married William Oswald in 1715 in Gamlen and Johann Peter Emmerich of Gamlen in 1719.
