He was a miller at Zettinger Muhl until his second marriage when he lived at Wirfus Muhl. He may have been the son of Johann Goebel who died at Zettinger Muehle in 1753.

She may have been the daughter of Wilhelm Weber and Maria Muennich or of Johann Anton Weber and Apollonia. Elisabeth and Johann had six children. Their sons Johann and Johann Peter married sisters--Elisabeth and Katharine Jungclas--who were their third cousins. Their son Peter married Eva Jungclas and their daughter Maria married Franz Jungclas who were sister and brother, as well as third cousins of Peter and Maria, and first cousins of Elisabeth and Katharine Jungclas.

Maria was the daughter of Peter Fuhrmann. Johann and Maria had five children. Maria was the baptismal sponsor in 1754 for Maria Lauxen, daughter of Peter Lauxen and Ursula Zimmerman of Illerich.
