Notes for Matthias Heucher
His baptismal sponsors were Matthias Heucher and Anna Kraemer, both of Landkern. Matthias Heucher was the son of Nikolaus Heucher and Maria Lauxen of Villa Beauweiler in Landkern. He married Gertrud Knoeper of Illerich in 1739 and lived in Landkern. Anna Kraemer was the daughter of Anton Kraemer and Margaretha Schuster who was born in 1731 in Landkern and thus the first cousin of the child.
A Matthias Heucher of Landkern married Anna Christine Steegman in 1766, Anna Maria May in 1770, and Sophie Lauxen in 1782. There were two possible individuals who could have been this person: (1) Matthias, the son of Matthias Heucher (originally of Fahrendeierhof in Landkern) and Anna Schuster who was born on March 5, 1746 in Landkern; or (2) Matthias, the son of Matthias Heucher (originally of Villa Beauweiler in Landkern) and Gertrud Knoeper who was born on September 1, 1746 in Landkern.
Based on an analysis of the baptismal sponsors of the children of Matthias Heucher and his wives, it is clear that they had more connections to the Heucher family from Fahrendeierhof than to that from Villa Beauweiler. Moreover these baptismal sponsors had connections with the Schuster family but none with the Knoeper family as would be expected if Matthias’ mother were Gertrud Knoeper. Thus the husband of Anna Christine Steegman, etc. was identified with the son of Matthias Heucher and Anna Schuster.

Jakob Heucher and Sophie Heucher of Landkern were her baptismal sponsors. Jakob Heucher was the second husband of Sophie Muennich and thus possibly Margaretha Gilles’ stepfather. He married Katharine Lauxen, Johann’s sister, in 1747 on the same day as Johann Lauxen married Margaretha Gilles. He was both Johann’s brother-in-law as well as possibly Margaretha’s stepfather.
Sophie Heucher of Landkern was Johann’s sister Sophie Lauxen who married Johann Heucher of Villa Beauweiler in Landkern in 1744. He was the son of Nikolaus Heucher and Maria Lauxen and was the widower of Maria Pauli of Illerich. Sophie Lauxen Heucher married Johann Anton Gilles of Villa Beauweiler in 1754, probably Margaretha’s brother.
Sophie Heucher of Landkern was Johann’s sister Sophie Lauxen who married Johann Heucher of Villa Beauweiler in Landkern in 1744.
