In 1870 he lived with his parents and sisters Emma and Katharine in Carlisle Township, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1880 he lived in Middleburg, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, boarding with the family of Henry C. Wilcox, his future father-in-law. Peter was a student at that time. His name was spelled Shaddon on the census.
He became an attorney and prominent Democratic politician. He suffered cramps and drowned while swimming with his sons in Delta Lake, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.
He was appointed to the U.S. Pension Office and served in 18787 in Ohio at a salary of $1,400.

In 1893 she lived in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. In June of 1895 she moved to Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee. After her wedding in December of 1895 she lived in Fort Wayne.
In 1900 Maude lived in Fort Wayne, Wayne Township, Allen County, Indiana with her stepsons William and Frank Schaden. They were boarders, living at the home of Lettie Carlisle. The census report contained some incorrect information. It reported that she was born in December of 1872, was 27 years old, was born in Virginia to a father from Indiana and a mother from Virginia, and had had two children, both of whom were living.
In 1903 she lived in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. In 1913 she lived in Kansas City, Missouri.
