Andreas may have also been called Andreas Hoffman. He was the hofmann (overseer) in Esperhof.
The family living at Esperhof took on the name Esper in the 16th century, according to a quotation in Stefan Buch’s Klotten Familybook (2007), p. 207. Apparently the family living there in the 17th century (and possibly also in the 16th) had had Gilles as their family name. There is a mixture of references to the same people as Esper and/or Gilles in the records of St. Maximin Church in Klotten. In particular Andreas’ son Johann was sometimes listed as Esper and sometimes as Gilles. I’ve indicated this by giving his family name as Esper/Gilles.
