Notes for Anna Katharine Pecker
Source: K-J Tonner’s Kelberg data file; cemetery records for St. Peter's Cemetery in North RIdgeville, Lorain County, Ohio; Bill Noll; Ancestry.com—New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957; and www.findagrave.com.
K-J Tonner’s lists her name as Margarethe Pecker (Pickard) and her birth date as Mar 24, 1802. Her tombstone gives her name as Anna Katharine Peker and her birth date as February 24, 1802. She may have been the daughter of Johann Pecker and Anna Barbara Pecker of Landkern. However her baptismal record is not included in 1802 in the version of the records of St. Servatius Church in Landkern that is available from the LDS Family History Centers.
She sailed with her husband and six children from Le Havre, France on the ship “Waverly,” arriving in New York, New York on August 28, 1847.
Notes for Matthias (Matthaus) (Spouse 1)
Sources: Mary Catherine Diederich's family history; cemetery records of Lorain County for St. Peter's Cemetery in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio; Allen Huelskamp; and Ancestry.com—New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957.
Matthias is missing from the St. Remigius Church records and Family Book (Retterath), possibly because he was born during the French occupation. Apparently he was a witness at the wedding of his brother Peter and Anna Maria May in Landkern.
Some sources say his family immigrated to Ohio on June 15, 1847. It is possible that that was the date when they left Landkern. He and his wife and six children sailed from Le Havre, France on the ship “Waverly,” arriving in New York, New York on August 28, 1847.
In 1850, 1860 and 1870 he and his family lived in North Ridgeville, Lorain County, Ohio. In 1850 they lived near the home of Matthias Klein and his family. Matthias Klein’s son John married Matthias Diederich’s daughter Gertrude.Three of his sons married daughters of Peter Thome and Anna Maria Reuter (or Reiter).
His tombstone lists his name as Matthaus.
